Where do I even begin?  Katherine and Jon’s story is a perfect love story.  Keeping things going while being apart, he in Texas and she in Indiana at College.  The proposal was nothing short of spectacular.  A simple girls night out.  Or was it?  A book of their relationship, made by Jon, and ending in a yes.    He surprised her by flying to Indy and showing up on “girls night”.  Of course, it was all planned, but she didn’t know that.  Complete surprise for her.

Katherine is our Pastor’s daughter, you’ve seen her before, I have worked with her and her family on numerous occasions.  I shot her Senior portraits about 4 years ago, she’s now in her Senior year at IWU.

Jon is a graduate of the U of I and a now soon to be practicing eye doctor. (cool right?)  He actually was the doctor that did my husband’s cataract during his time at the VA hospital.   He’s in the process of all of his paperwork in Texas.

They met while Jon was going to school here, because he went to Good News Bible Church.   God is so good and works in all our lives when we don’t even think about it!  He orchestrates every tiny little detail of our lives.

While they were both here over Thanksgiving we did their engagement photos.  It was cold.  So cold.  We had a blast though.  We headed downtown Iowa City.   Climbed up a fire escape, and I onto a roof.  We warmed up at the Java House over some coffee.  They climbed up and posed on the rail to a bridge.

This was ONE very cool and very fun engagement session!   I am so happy for them and their future plans.  I am also very excited to shoot their wedding in June!

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ  Phil. 1:9-10

Meet this adorable little family!!   I was thrilled when Lauren contacted me about wanting photos with her boyfriend and his daughter, Maddie.  She’s just the cutest ever!   It took a little while for her to warm up to me, but when she did, she really liked to ham it up! By the end of our session she was not letting go of my daughter’s gem covered sunglasses!  She loved them.

It is so nice when you can work a job that your daughter can come with you.  She’s really good with the little kids so she makes a fantastic helper.

This was my first time working with this adorable family and I hope to do it again soon!   Lauren works at Red’s Alehouse in North Liberty, so I’m hoping hubby and I can make up there for date night soon!

Check out Maddie’s curls!  I died when I saw them.  Seriously.  Dead.

Thanks for much for the good time Eric & Lauren!  ♥

So I finally got some time to try to catch up on some blogging!  You know I love working with this family. They are so fun and I love how energetic their boys are.  We had a great time walking the area near their home.   Katherine’s brother was staying with them for a while so he joined in as well.

It’s always nice to include the family dog as well.  It’s not so easy for their dog to walk alot these days, so it was good that we stayed close to their house.   The weather was also perfect that day for having the new baby outdoors!

Thanks you guys, for another great time!

There is nothing better to this photographer, who grew up in the country, than to head out to the middle of nowhere, and get to hang out with a girl, a horse, a goat and a million kitty cats!  I am a small town girl at heart, even though I live in the city, so this was very fun for me.  I love getting my shoes dirty every now and then!

We had a blast shooting around their farm, using stuff as props that I’m sure Sara thought would never look good in a photograph!   I wanted to ride her horse out into the sunset.  Oh and let’s not forget photos of her and her BF with guns?  FANTASTIC!!!

Thank you Sara for an amazing time!

Such exciting news for the Keechs’!   They have welcomed baby Owen into their home.  He came in the exciting way most newborns do, but a bit differently for Katherine and John.   Owen was adopted and they flew out to California for his birth, stayed for a spell and then brought him home!! So exciting!!

I have been in contact with Katherine for a while, knowing that they were trying to adopt, and then of course the sessions we have done in the past while they were waiting.  You’ve seen them on the blog before, I’ve worked with them many times.  They are a super fun family and the twins are now 5!

Owen is settling in nicely and has 2 wonderful brothers and a sweet mama and proud daddy to love him!  I’m so happy for them!
