I thought I would give a little insight into photo editing. For those who don’t know, or who are wondering why I do not sell my images on CD. I know many others who do this, and that’s fine. That’s how they run their business. I never wanted to do that. My images are my art. I take great time and effort into each image, not only during your session but after, in Photoshop and Lightroom. I spend great deal of time looking at every detail of your image and correcting what needs correcting and making sure your images are exactly as I would want them if they were my family.
I do not sell images in CD for 2 reasons. First, who knows WHERE one could get prints made. I use MpixPro for all my developing because I feel they are the best! The images are crisp, clear and on the highest quality paper. It’s also important that I manage the color and print quality of my images by using my own professional labs.
Second, editing. I have seen some poor ‘editing’ jobs in my time, either on FB, Twitter or Blogs. Images that have been treated very poorly by someone who didn’t know what they were doing. Uncle “Joe” thinking he can manipulate a photo and post it all over. Or Aunt “Sue” trying to crop out Uncle “Joe” from the MIDDLE of the image. Therefore, when you see one of your images on my website, in your gallery, it is already processed and edited. I do not allow them to even be seen before this is done.
As I stated earlier, this is my art. Just as a painter would not want his/her work tampered with by someone else, nor do I want mine.
I edit photos with Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3. I love these programs! They are time consuming to learn but also so much fun to learn!! I thought I would share a before and after image from a recent session.

As you can see, the before image is ok, but the after is much better. This is part of what you pay for, but not always receive, when hiring a professional photographer instead of having your neighbor (unless they are a pro too!) take snapshots of your family in the backyard. Imagine what might have been….had Uncle “Joe” taken the editing in his own hands!!!
I hope that this explains things for many of you….and I hope to work with many of you in the future!!
