This worked out GREAT that Rock The Shot is doing their May challenge on Flowers, when just yesterday I took of few of Abby while out running errands. We stopped at Ace Hardware to have a key made for our new Tahoe and Abby and I took the time to stop and “smell the flowers”. I always carry my camera on me so we had fun looking at all of the flowers and taking photos of them. Abby loves to pose for me, which is great, since her brother doesn’t!!

Here’s one of the shots I got of her. I love this one.

Thursday when I was sitting in the van waiting for Ryan’s writing class to start at our pastor’s house, I noticed these cute garden statues in the neighbor’s yard! They were so cute I had to photograph them!! I just think they are darling…makes me want to go get some for my yard!

The one thing I love most about being a family and maternity photographer in the Iowa City area is meeting fun families like the Oliviers!! Getting together though kind of turned into a challenge…but it’s a pretty funny story:

We talked for the first time back in February, when Alicia contacted me about doing Belly bump and Newborn portraits. We set the date for April 21st and stayed in contact during that time. We tried to meet at Panera a few times and couldn’t get the timing right. Finally the day came…unfortunately it was rainy and chilly (55*). To top it off, when they pulled into the park and I was walking to meet them the hinge on my glasses just disintegrated in my hand while attempting to wipe the rain drops off them!! Yikes! Alicia’s husband, Nelson was so nice about it though, he was concerned if I would be ok driving back home. We rescheduled the session for 3 days later and drove home.

We were so blessed on the day we finally met and were able to shoot their session with sunshine and temps in the 70′s!! It was absolutely a gorgeous Iowa spring day. I had a really good time hanging out with them, their little man, Andrew, is 5 and so full of life!! Once he got comfortable infront of my camera, which wasn’t long, he was totally hamming it up!!! He is one VERY proud big brother!! Mom and dad are very excited to be welcoming a little sister into the world for Andrew!! I’ll save the name for her newborn blog post coming in June!

I’m also so excited, because Alicia and Nelson are my first Baby Plan family!! So you’ll be seeing lots of this beautiful family! Now I won’t keep you any longer…here’s some of my favorite images from the session!

Easter 2012 {He has RISEN!} | Iowa City Photographer

What a glorious time of year Easter is! On Saturday we had an egg hunt at church and there were A LOT of kids from the surrounding neighborhood that came. What a great example of seeing God at work!!!! The kids had a great time and I loved seeing them all enjoying it, it was so fun.

On Easter Sunday we had breakfast at the church instead of Sunday school. It’s always so fun to see what yummy things everyone brings to eat!! Although, I have to admit, even though I am a jelly bean junkie, I did NOT take any of the ones someone brought, I was on candy overload already at that point!

After church the teens all gathered together for some shoots! We have the BEST group of young people ever!!! Praise God for them all growing up knowing our Savior!!
